Sources said that the locals led by Congress Legislature Party Leader and MLA from Sewarahi assembly  constituency in UP Ajay Kumar Lallu staged Dharna at the bund site as the Ring Bund constructed for protection of Amawa Khas Embankment was washed away on September 20, 2019, and the strong current of furious Gandak is directly hitting the embankment now.

Flood protection engineers of West Champaran district, BDO, Thakaraha, Saini Saurabh, Circle Officer Chandrashekhar Tiwari and Thakaraha police are camping at the site to assist the Uttar Pradesh  flood control engineers. A furious Gandak has eroded three out of four Spurs made for there for protection of the embankment while only 30 metres of 125 metre long fourth Spur  remains intact.

He said that with Gandak showing receding trend, there is no danger to the embankment now. But, Mansoor Alam, Sriniwas Gupta, and Ajay  Gupta rubbished Prasad’s claim.
