Patna : Union Minister of State for HRD and President of Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) Upendra Kushwaha, who was sulking ever since JD(U) chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar returned to NDA fold in August 2017, resigned from the Union council of ministers and also walked out of the BJP-led NDA on December 10, 2018. The RLSP chief, in his resignation letter to PM Narendra Modi, said he was “dejected” by his leadership.

” The government’s priority is not to work for the poor and oppressed, but to fix political opponents by hook or crook,” said Kushwaha in his letter, according to party sources. Kushwaha also attacked Nitish Kumar saying the Bihar chief minister was against him.

Kushwaha was angry with the BJP after it said that the RLSP would not be given more than two seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. The BJP, however, said that the saffron party and the JD(U) would fight equal number of Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. The RLSP had won three seats in Bihar in 2014 LS polls and Kushwaha was appointed Union Minister of State. Kushwaha had won the Karakat seat in 2014 LS polls.
