New Delhi : The President of India on July 6, 2021, appointed senior BJP leader and Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand, 73, as as the Governor of Karnataka.
Another BJP leader Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel,77, a tribal leader, has been appointed as Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Patel hails from Gujarat and is a former minister. Bandaru Dattatraya, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Haryana.
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has been appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh while Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati has been appointed as Governor of Mizoram.
Satyadev Narayan Arya, Governor of Haryana, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Tripura. Ramesh Bais, Governor of Tripura, has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Jharkhand.
P S Sreedharan Pillai, 67, Governor of Mizoram, too has been transferred and appointed as Governor of Goa. Pillai hails from Kerala and is a former state BJP President.
The BJP leader from Goa Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, 67, a former Speake, has been appointed as Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Arlekar is a former Minister of Goa.
The aforesaid appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices, according to a PIB release.
