Patna: Armed criminals on February 7 chased and gunned down two persons including former mukhiya of Pakri panchayat Harendra Yadav at village Harsatali under Daraundha police station under Maharajganj sub-division in Siwan district. On getting information, Siwan DM Mahendra Kumar and SP Saurabh Kumar Sah reached the spot and took stock of the situation. SP directed SDPO, Maharajganj, Sanjit Kumar Prabhat to immediately arrest the assailants.
Locals said that Harendra Yadav, 40, former mukhiya of Pakri panchayat under MH Nagar Hasanpura block and resident of village Dibbi, along with his cousin Ajay Kumar was on way to meet MLC Shivprasann Yadav at village Harsatali at around 9 am 0n a bike. As the duo reached Mahual-Daraundha main road, six criminals, who were waiting there with their bikes, started following former mukhiya and his cousin. The criminals also started firing at them.
Both Harendra and his cousin left the bike near Government Primary School at Harsatali and ran away towards field to save themselves.The criminals chased them and fired at former mukhiya with bullet hitting his chest and head killing him on the spot. The criminals also fired two rounds at Ajay and escaped from there. Hearing the sounds of gun-shots, some villagers reached there and took Ajay to a local hospital. He, however, succumbed to his injuries before reaching local hospital.
On getting information, Daraundha police reached the spot and sent the bodies to Siwan Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A large number of people had assembled on the spot as the news of two killings spread in the locality.
