Motihari : Two  persons drowned to death while one person sustained injury  in Motijheel located in Agarwa locality of Motihari, headquarters of East Champaran District in North Bihar, on October 28, 2019, after a small countryboat capsised in the in lake. Both the persons were cleaning the ghat filled with garbage for Chhath festival  which is six days away.

The  locals fished out  two persons after turning  the boat upside  and rushed them to Motihari Sadar Hospital  where the  doctor declared them dead. SHO, Town police station, Abhay Kumar, said that  the deceased were identified as Kishan Gupta, 35, and Ramesh Sahni, 32, both residents of Agarawa locality of Motihari Town.

Hundreds of  people of Agarawa locality, who had assembled at Sadar Hospital, alleged  that no doctor was available at the hospital and  no medical aid was  provided to them in time. The mob  ransacked the hospital and pelted the hospital employees with stones though the situation  was brought under control by police.

The  East Champaran District Administration and Nagar Parishad  have started cleaning all 14 ghats  of Motijheel, which  divides the town into two parts . Most of  the ghats still have heaps of silt, mud and garbage because of heavy rains few weeks back.
