Ara : Two love birds committed suicide by hanging themselves from the ceiling of a flour mill at Jamalpur village under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district on July 11, 2020, late evening.

Police recovered the bodies on July 12, 2020, and brought them over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. An FIR has been lodged by Koelwar police station in this regard and police are investigating the matter. The deceased were identified as Sushil Kumar Pandey, 22, and Soni Kumari, 20, daughter of Harendra Ram of Jamalpur village under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district.

SHO, Koelwar police station, N K Singh, said that the matter came to light only on July 12 morning when the father of the boy while  searching for him found him hanging from the ceiling of a closed flour mill at Jamalpur and also body of a girl  hanging side by side. The door of the flour mill was closed from inside. The villagers informed police that rushed to the spot immediately, entered the flour mill, and brought the bodies down.

The SHO said that love affairs was said  to be the reason behind the suicide but the possibility of honour killing could not be ruled out.He said that the postmortem reports were awaited. He said that police are interrogating the family members of the deceased and CDR of their mobile phones would also be scrutinised.

The villagers said that Soni Kumari lived with her maternal uncle at Bihta in Patna district and had recently come to her native village Jamalpur under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district.
