Two liquor smugglers arrested in Sasaram

Sasaram: Rohtas police arrested two liquor smugglers Binod Bihari and Sanjay Kumar from their houses under Sasaram Town police station and forwarded them to jail on Friday evening.

SHO, Sasaram Town police station, Pawan Kumar said that the police had seized liquor in large quantity from a four – wheeler about 15 days ago but the liquor smugglers had escaped though the police had arrested the driver and seized the four- wheeler. The driver during interrogation had revealed the names of the liquor smugglers.

Though the police have been frequently arresting the liquor mafia and seizing liquor and action is also being taken against the erring police officials under the new excise policy, sale and purchase of liquor is going on unabated particularly in line hotels on National Highways. A number of line hotels, restaurants and dhabas have emerged  on the National Highways passing through Dehari-on-Sone and one can easily get liquor of different brands there. People can be seen on the road outside these line hotels or restaurants in drunken state but police have hardly conducted raids at  these places so far.

DIG Shahabad range Md. Rahman said that orders had been given to raid such line hotels, restaurants and dhadas on the National Highways.
