Patna : Two persons were killed and three others sustained serious burn injuries as a major fire broke out at a Transport godown near Keshav Dharamkanta (Weighing place), Chhoti Pahari, under Bypass police station, Patna, at 11.45 am on July 3, 2018. The injured were rushed to Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH).

Fire originated from a garbage heap but soon engulfed an oil tanker parked and three trucks near a transport godown. But, no fire tender reached the spot for over 2 hours. Later on, five fire tenders were rushed to the spot and are still engaged in extinguishing the fire. A major fire mishap could have occurred as a petrol pump is located just 50 metre away from the spot. Locals informed the police and fire authorities about the fire. Sources said that the fire was caused due to blast in LPG cylinder during preparation of food by drivers and cleaners.

Patna DM has directed SDO, Patna, to inquire into the incident and submit his report at the earliest.
