Gopalganj: Two jewellers, both cousins, were mowed down by a speeding bus on NH-85 (Siwan-Gopalganj main road) at village Itawa under Uchakagaon police station in Gopalganj district late on November 27 evening. The deceased were identified as Govind Soni, son of Ram Babu Prasad of Sonar Toli in Meerganj, and Dharmendra Prasad Soni, son of Inar Prasad Soni. Govind Soni was brother of Meerganj Nagar Panchayat chairman Puja Devi. The bus driver escaped from there leaving the vehicle on the spot.
On getting information, local police reached the spot and sent the bodies to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Police also seized the bus. After the mishap, movement of vehicles on the road was affected for some time. Police later cleared the road and movement of vehicles resumed on NH-85. The deceased’s family members said that both the brothers were on way to Pyarepur (Barauli) to attend a marriage on a bike. A pal of gloom descended at Sonar Toli as the news of death of the brothers reached there. A large number of well wishers including local traders reached the house to console the wailing family members.
