Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : With a view to inculcating a sense of responsibility and connect the students to the environment, a two-day plant exhibition cum competition ‘Phulwari’ was organised at DPS, Bokaro, on February 1, 2019.

Over 2,500 plants were exhibited atdthe show that includes collection of diverse flora nurtured by the students in different like: Seasonal Flowers, Medicinal Plants, Vegetables, Fruits, Decorative Plants, Non-flowering and others.

The exhibition was inaugurated by District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Bokaro, Rajiv Mishra. Inaugurating the event, DAO Mishra expressed his happiness on seeing the active participation of students in a large number. He urged them to nurture the plants and show belongingness towards the environment.

Additional Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar, highlighted the importance of ‘Phulwari’ and said that the idea behind putting the exhibition is to sensitise the students and parents to their responsibility to the environment.

The exhibition witnessed the student’s expression and their deep connection with nature through slogans and poems etc. The plants put on the show had already been adopted by the students, who were nurturing them for the last three months.

The exhibition also had a competition judged by Rita Khawas, Shewta Singh, and Nimisha Rani in the Primary Wing and  Shalini Thakur, Neelam Singh and Renu Pandey in Senior Wing. The best species of plants were selected on the basis of their health, soil, texture and economic significance.
