Sitamarhi : A police team from Bhittha Police Outpost (OP) in Sitamarhi District had to fire two rounds in the air in self defence on October 3, 2020, late evening, following brickbatting by residents village Meghapur. Junior Sub-Iinspector (SI) Lallan Singh and constable Akhileshwar Sah were injured in brickbatting and were admitted to Primary Health Centre (PHC), Sursand, in Sitamarhi District.
A bullet allegedly hit left leg of a Meghapur resident Raghavendra Chaudhary. He was admitted to a private Nursing Home at Sitamarhi town, which is 30 km away from Meghapur. Police, however, denied it but the villagers alleged Chaudhary was injured in police firing.
A police team, on getting information that idols of Goddess Durga were being made for Durga Puja festival at village Meghapur without proper permission and license, reached there and inquired about it that led to tiff between the cops and the locals. It was followed by brick -batting by villagers. Sensing the gravity of the situation, police fired two round in the air.
Senior police officials visited Meghapur on October 3, 2020, night, and a contingent of police force has been deployed there.The village is situated near Indo-Nepal border under Sursand block.
