Motihari : A strayed wild Tusker went on rampage and killed four persons in last 30 hours in Nawada District in Bihar. The teams of Forest Department officials are tracking the elephant  and chasing it away from  human settlements. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.

According to  Forest Department officials the tusker has strayed from Kodarma Forest  area in neghbouring Jharkhand state and entered  Nawada District of Bihar. Sanjay  Kumar, Ranger, Nawada, said this strayed  jumbo has triggered panic in Sardala Block area  of the district  and has  killed  Anand Singh of village Sakara, Vinod Kumar of village Bhanauli , Baleshwar Yadav of village Hasan, and a 10 years old boy in Sitamarhi Block area.

Environment & Forest and Climate Change Minister Neeraj Kumar Singh said that  Quick Response Team (QRT)  and tranquilisation teams  were sent to Nawada  to  track the elephant. Besides, a special  team  of QRT has been requisitioned  from West Bengal to chase away the  jumbo from Nawada.  The search operation is still on to track the elephant.

Wild Boar kills man in W Champaran :  In another  incident, ane Sheshnath Yadav, 35, of village Naraipur under Semara police station,  was  killed  by  a wild boar on February 25, 2021, when he on his way to  his agriculture field near village Guruwaliya  close  Chiwtaha Forest range  of Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran District.  H K Rai , Wildlife Conservator  of VTR, said  that we are looking into the  matter.

It may be mentioned here that a Tigress  had killed  4 persons including a woman and injured two Forest Department employees others in Valmiki Tiger Reserve on February 6, 2021. The 15 year old Tigress was caught by a team of 60 Forest officials from forest after a week frm Manguraha Range in VTR. But, the Tigress died during treatment at Patna zoo.
