But, World No 67 Guillermo Garcia Lopez, 34, Spain, stunned 2015 French Open Champion Stan Wawrinka, 33, Switzerland, in the first round in a five thriller. Guillermo Garcia Lopez beat Wawrinka, who had lost to World No 1 Rafael Nadal, 31, Spain, in the 2017 French Open final, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.
World No 15 Sam Querry, 30, USA, beat World No 58 Frances Tiafoe, 20, USA, 6-1, 6-2, 7-6, on Court 7 on May 28 to enter the second round.
