Ara : Police personnel thrashed and injured a truck driver Hari Krishna Yadav, son of Harikishun Yadav of Devaria, UP, on July 1, 2018, morning, at Sakaddi Mor under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district allegedly for not paying Rs 5,000 to them. The injured truck driver was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital.

When people started gathering there, all the police personnel fled away from the spot. The irate truck drivers blocked Ara-Nasaritganj main road near Sakaddi for about two hours paralysing  movement of vehicles. They were demanding immediate ban on illegal realisation of money from them and police highhandedness.

Hari Krishna Yadav said that the cops were depployed at the place to regulate smooth traffic and also to maintain law and order but they were realising money ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 from the truck drivers passing through the four lane under Koelwar police station even during day time. Whenever anyone dared refuse to yield to their demand, police personnel thrashed him and forcibly snatched whatsoever the drivers had with them.

Hari Krishna Yadav alleged that the cops demanded Rs 5,000 from him on July 1 morning and when he refused to pay the desired amount, they thrashed him and also hit him on his head with stick.

On June 30, 2018, a video went viral on the social media showing police personnel and their middlemen realizing Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 from the trucks overloaded with sand at Abdul Bari bridge over river Sone under Koelwar police station. As the Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar has banned sand mining on the banks of river Sone, police personnel were seen quite alert in collecting  from the truck drivers carrying sand.

SHO, Koelwar police station, refuted all the charges and said that the truck drivers were carrying overloaded sand illegally. He said and as the police personnel are checking trucks strictly, the truck drivers were levelling false against them to save their skin.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that it was a serious matter and action would taken against cops concerned if found guilty after thorough inquiry.
