Muzaffarpur: Unidentified criminals killed a truck driver and his assistant and looted Rs 20,000 cash from them near Nayagaon Panshala Chowk under Kesaria police station on Patna – Bettiah state highways 74 on October 13 night. The road passes through Kesaria police station in East Champaran district.
The deceased were identified as Mohan Rai ( driver),50, and his assistant Mithilesh Rai, 20, and were close relatives. The criminals killed them by hitting their heads with iron rod. They were natives of village Brahmchari under Maner police station (PS) in Patna district. The villagers saw their bodies on October 14 morning and informed Kesaria police station.
SHO, Kesaraia PS, Jitendradev Dipak reached the spot and sent the bodies to Motihari Sadar hospital for post-mortem. DSP, Chakia, Mundrika Prasad, who also visited the place of occurrence, said the murders appeared to be pre-planned. He did not rule out old enemity being the reason behind the killings. Police are probing the incident from different angles.
Police sources said that the truck had lifted sand from Koelwar in Bhojpur district and was going to Motihari, headquarters of East Champaran district. One of the tyres of the truck burst near Nayagaon Panshala Chowk under Kesaria police station. When the owner of the truck received information about it from the driver, he sent a new tyre at 9 pm on October 13. Mithilesh Rai changed the tyre but soon another tyre got punctured. After this, both Mohan Rai and Mithilesh Rai slept in the truck but were killed late October 13 night. The bodies were thrown beneath the truck. Mohan Rai’s nephew has lodged an FIR with Kesaria police station in this connection.
