Patna: Action was taken against 430 vehicle drivers and fine of Rs 14 lakh was imposed on them on July 11, 2020, during the ongoing helmet, seat-belt and mask checking campaign being run across the state. Besides Traffic Police, district transport officers, MVIs, and ESI in districts organised the drive.
Bihar Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said that it has been made mandatory for drivers and passengers and other people to wear masks while driving. If caught driving without a mask, the officers concerned would slap fine on the violators, he pointed out. The Transport Secretary informed that people are being made aware of the road safety and protection from corona infection through stickers on buses and autos. Along with this, work is being done to make people aware through radio jingle, he said, adding that radio jingles are
being prepared for this and soon it will be broadcast on all radio.
Agarwal said that all district officers have been instructed to ensure use of masks under standard operating procedure and to deploy
magistrates and police forces to maintain social distance besides imposing fine of Rs 50 on those who do not use masks.
