Bagaha : Tirupati Sugars Mill, Bagaha, in West Champaran district, has augmented its sugarcane crushing capacity from 60,000 quintals to 80,000 quintals per day from current crushing season which got underway on November 5, 2017, after Puja of cane serving bowl (Donga).

Managing Director (MD) of the factory Dipak Yadav said that due to mordenization and better performance of the factory, the state government has allotted additional 24 villages under Baria and Jogapatti blocks of West Champaran for current crushing season to the factory. The factory management has opened 11 sugarcane purchase centres to procureĀ  canes. MD Yadav told to the farmers that before sugarcane purchase challans reach them, they will be intimated through SMS on their mobiles. He expressed hope that the factory would crush over one crore quintals cane during current crushing season and exhorted cane growers to produce high yield variety for their betterment.

MD Yadav urged the sugarcane growers not to plant rejected varieties of canes as they are neither economical for them nor for the factory. He pleaded for plantation of early varieties of canes like 238, 188 and 930, for which the factory is providing help to them. He assured the farmers, who had gathered in a large number on the occasion of Donga Puja, that the government is likely to announce the new cane price in the middle of November and the factory management is ready to pay the same price to the sugarcane growers. He said that arrear of cane price had already been paid to the farmers. About 47,ooo cane farmers of the district would supply their sugarcane to the factory this crushing season, said MD Dipak Yadav.
