Three members of a family shot dead at Sitamarhi village, 1 injured

Sitamarhi : Three members of a family including a woman of village Akhata under Suppi police station in Sitamarhi district were shot dead by unidentified criminals moving in a Scorpio and bike in broad daylight on August 26, 2019, in revenge killing triggering panic in the area. One person sustained bullet injury in the shootout.

Heavy deployment of police has been made at the place of occurrence and SP Anil Kumar is himself camping there. Police have picked up 9 villagers in connection with the incident besides seizing an SUV and two pistols after combing operation.

Md. Salman Khan, 20, Md. Ejaj Khan, 18,  and Shahjzdi, 40, wife of Md. Munna Khan, were shot dead by the unidentified criminals on the outskirts of village Akhata. Salman and Ejaj were killed when they were going to the court on their bike. After killing them, the criminals entered their house and killed Shahzadi.

The villagers attributed the killings to a fall out of Panchayat elections. There is always a tussle allegedly between Mukhia and Sarpanch factions in Akhata Panchayat, they said. Last year, Sarpanch Sahnaz Begam’s husband Md Nizamuddin Khan was killed by hired goons, the villagers said. Meanwhile, tension prevails in the area.
