Three-day ‘OJAS Science Summit’ begins at DPS Bokaro

Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : A three- day ‘OJAS Science Summit 2018-19 organised by DPS Bokaro to nurture scientific temperament amongst students got underway on October 10, 2018, on the school premises. The summit commemorates Dr A P J Abdul Kalam’s 87th birth anniversary.

Professor Anwar A Khan, former Vice Chancellor, Ranchi University, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whereas Dr Ram Singh, Principal, DPS, Ranchi, was the Guest of Honour.

The competition held on October 10 comprised the projects made by the students on ‘Child Rights’ with the central theme ‘Kilkari’, ‘Kal Kal Jivan- Save Rivers’. Students prepared models for Science Projects displaying the wonders of science in an innovative way.

Ashok Kumar (Department of History, Bokaro Mahila College), Ashok Kumar Singh (Department of English, City College, Bokaro), Dr Sanjay Singh (Department of Psychology, Bokaro Mahila College) and A K Jha (Department of Economics, NJS College) were the jury for the evaluation of the child right projects whereas to judge the science project, the jury consisted of  Usha Rani (Bokaro Mahila College), Gunjita Sinha (Department of Biology, VKM Inter College, Chas), Arvind Kumar Singh (Government Women’s Polytechnic College), Nasim Akhtar (NJS College), Nilima Mishra (Department of Physics, Bokaro Mahila College) and Dr Thakur Ashok Anand (Principal, & HOD Physics, Chas College).

The jury members and the esteemed guests for the ceremony appreciated the efforts by the students and said that the real study of science and social sciences can be acquired only through their practical implications and observations in daily life and the world around.

Director and Principal, DPS Bokaro, Dr Hemlata S Mohan appreciated the efforts of he students under the guidance of the teachers and motivated them to develop a scientific temperament.
