Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : A three- day book- fair, ‘Avlokan ‘, organised at DPS Bokaro concluded on May 5, 2018. With a view to strengthening the close relationship between the ‘Books’ and ‘Students’, DPS, Bokaro organized  the  three-day Book- Fair, Avalokan, which  drew large crowd of students  and their parents  who thronged all the stalls to have see the latest books carrying latest information  in field of science, mathematics, environmental science and human science.

Speaking on the occasion on May 5, Chief Guest Neelima Rani Singh, DIG, CISF, and DIG, CRPF, Suresh Sharma, appreciated the efforts of  the school for organizing such an event and hoped that this fair will inculcate good reading habit among the students. Neelima Singh said that as books are the easiest and best medium for acquiring knowledge and enriching vocabulary, the students should make books their companion for life.

CRPF, DIG,  Sharma expressed concern over the growing influence of visual/social media on the youth and how it has affected the reading habits among the children. He reiterated that reading alone can develop one’s personality and knowledge and expand one’s understanding of life. He talked to the children regarding the importance of the books and appreciated the initiative taken by the school to encourage and inculcate reading habits among the students.

The three-day fair, which was organised in association with Bookfind, was open for  the students and their parents..The fair had a wide array of books ranging from fiction of popular and renowned writers like Enid Blyton, J K Rowling, Dan Brown, Ruskin Bond to the story books from R K Narayan like Malgudi Days, The Guide. Non-fiction books like autobiography of A P J Abdul Kalam and New Series of encyclopaedia for the early science readers were also available.

The highlight of the fair is the book written by Hemlata S Mohan- “Unlock the Child Inside the Child”, a lucid guide to parenting and more. In her message, the Director & Principal of DPS Bokaro, Hemlata S Mohan expressed her keen desire to inculcate good reading habits among the youth. She said, “Reading is one effective skill that can bring about the growth of ideas, thoughts, imagination, and in turn will also develop other additional skills like writing and speaking.”
