Ara: Bhojpur police arrested three persons:  Ladla Kunjada, son of Nazir Kunjada, Meeraz Kunjada, son of Khurshid Kunjada, and Qyum Khan, son of Kalam Khan, all natives of Ranisagar village under Shahpur police station, on Saturday evening and forwarded them to jail for allegedly setting afire shops and provoking communal tension at Ranisagar on July 7 and July 8, 2016. The area is still  cordoned off and police patrolling going round the clock in the area. Police are searching for the remaining accused.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that people of two communities clashed at Ranisagar village after one Kishore Kumar Anu Raj, son of Ram Ji Prasad of Ranisagar, posted some objectionable comments on the Facebook on Eid. Though the police arrested him. Police  also convened a ‘Shanti Committee’ meeting and people of both the communities were invited to it on July 8. The SP said all was going well and people had started coming to the meting but in the meantime, some mischief mongers provoked tension after which over two dozen shops of a community were burnt, there was rampage at post office and cops were pelted with stones. Police  had to fire in the air several round to disperse  the unruly mob. He said an FIR was lodged with Shahpur police station against 18 named and 200 unnamed people and three of them were arrested.

The SP  said on the  report of the ADM, 22 persons were identified whose property was damaged and Rs. 9,800 each was given to 14 of them immediately and the rest 8 would also get the same. He said after assessment, money will be given to the affected persons as per the report. He said the district administration is working impartially and no one would be spared.
