Three arrested for firing in Dharhara locality, Ara

Ara : Bhojpur police,  acting on a tip off, arrested three members of Imteyaz group on May 12, 2017,  from Dharahara locality under Town police station, Ara, in connection with firing in Dharahara locality late May 11 evening.

The arrested persons were identified as Mohammad Naushad, Naushad and Guddu alias Sarfraz. A named FIR has been lodged with Town police station against 16 persons including Imteyaz on the statement of one Mahangu while another FIR was lodged against seven persons on the statement of Tunnu. On May 12, residents of Dharhara locality blocked the Ara -Patna main road and paralyzed the movement of vehicle for about four hours. They burnt tyres and raised slogans against police administration. They were demanding arrest of miscreants. The blockade was lifted after police led by the SDPO Sanjay Kumar assured them to arrest the miscreants.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that people of a minority community had gone to cemetery on Sab-e-Barat and when they came out of the cemetery after lighting candle there, an exchange of fire took place between two rival groups at Ward No 35 in Dharahara locality for supremacy in the area May 11 late evening after Mahangu and Imteyaz had a tiff over a trivial in which six persons of one group and one person of another group were injured.

The injured were admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor referred one of the injured Mahangu to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in precarious condition. The injured were identified as Tanveer Alam, son of Iradat Hussain, Md Mantu, son of Qayamuddin, Md Mahangu, son of Md Nayim, Md Vikky, son of Md Mustaque Alam, Md Gulam Sarvar, son of Md Zaheeruddin, and Md Meeraz, son of Md Qayamuddin. Tension prevails in the area following the incident but SP said that situation was under control. Police patrolling has been intensified in the area.
