Thiem & Tsitsipas to clash for Nitto ATP Finals trophy

Patna : Fifth seed Dominic Thiem, 26, Austria, beat defending champion & 7th seed Alexander Zverev, 22, Germany, in straight sets in the semi-final to reach final of Nitto ATP Finals, an year end tournament, after November 16, 2019, mid-night. Thiem will face World No 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 21, Greece, in the final on November 17, 2019, late night. Tsitsipas defeated six-time champion Roger Federer, 38, Switzerland, the 3rd seed, in first semi-finals on November 16.

Thiem beat Zverev 7-5, 6-3 in 1hr 34 minutes in semi-finals winning 2 break points in the match besides winning 3 games in a row at O2 Arena, London, UK. The Austrian won 51 service points to 42 by the German. Thiem’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 68% & 53 %) was much higher than that of Zverev (59 % & 38 %).

Thiem had defeated Federer and 2nd seed Novak Djokovic, Serbia, in the round robin stage to reach the SFs. Tsitsipas had defeated 4th seed Daniil Medvedev, 23, Russia,and Zverev  in round robin stage to reach SFs. Both of them had finished the Group stage with two win and one loss each.
