Saharsa: Cash worth Rs 40,000, jewellery and several official documents were stolen from the houses of Circle Officers (COs) of Salkhua and Simribakhtiarpur circles in Saharsa district in broad daylight on July 21, 2017, when  both the officers were away at their respective office. The two officers noticed the theft when they returned from their office in the evening. Salkhua CO Sanjay Kumar and Simribakhtiarpur CO Dharmendra Pandit live at Simribakhtiarpur, the sub-divisional headquaters.

SDO, Simribakhtiarpur, Suman Prasad Sah, SHO, Simribakhtiarpur police station, Uma Shankar Kamat, BDO of Simri and Salkua Vibhesh Anand, CO, Banma Itahari Randhir Kumar, and former MLA Arun Kumar Yadav, visited the houses of the two COs after the incident.

Simri CO Dharmendra Pandit said that the thieves entered his house from rear side after scaling the wall and took away Rs 25,000 cash, a gold chain and a gold ring besides some important papers after breaking open a Godrej Almirah. It was the second incident of theft at his house in last two years, he said. CO Sanjay Kumar said that Rs 15,000 cash and some jewellery was stolen from his house.  Both the COs stay alone at their respective house. SHO Kamat said that police were investigating into the incident.
