Patna : Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, has retained her World No 1 position in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on July 23, 2019, but she is just 495 points ahead of World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, 22, Japan. Yamaguchi has jumped 2 places in the rankings after winning the Indonesia Open title getting 12,000 points last week . Tai Tzu has 92,625 points while Yamaguchi has 92,130 points.

Nozomi Okuhara, Japan, the 2017 World Champion, has slipped 1 place to be ranked World No 3 with 88,836 points while Chen Yu Fei, China, has slipped 1 place to be ranked World No 4 with 88,565 points just 271 points behind the former. P V Sindhu, India, remains World No 5 with 80,634 points despite reaching the final of Indonesia Open last week. HE Bing Jiao, China, is World No 6 while Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, is World No 7.

Saina Nehwal, India, is World No 8 with 69,017 points while reigning Olympic and World Champion Carolina Marin, Spain, is World No 9 with 67,000 points. Beiwen Zhang, USA, is World No 10 with 56,790 points.

Rituparna Das, Ibdia, is World No 66 with 23,290 points while Mugdha Agrey, India, is World No 68 with 22,990 points. Riya Mookerjee, India, who has slipped 7 places, is World No 84 with 20,000 points. Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli, India, has also slipped 7 places and is World No 88 with 19,190 points. Ashmita Chaliha, India, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 98 with 17, 745 points.
