Patna : Top seed Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, and World No 1 Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, entered the semi-finals of Fuzhou China Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Fuzhou, China, on November 8, 2019.

World No 2 Tai Tzu beat World No 19 Kim Ga Eun, 30, South Korea, in a three-game thriller 21-15, 11-21, 21-13 in 52 minutes in quarter-finals at Haixia Olympic Sports Centre, Fuzhou, China, to advance to the semi-finals. Tai Tzu won 53 rallies in the match to 49 by Eun. But, Eun won 8 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Tai Tzu. Tai Tzu now leads Eun 3-0 Head to Head. Eun is also an actress.

World No 1 and 4th seed Okuhara beat World No 7 He Bing Jiao, 22, China, the 7th seed, in straight games 21-12, 21-11 in 39 minutes in QFs. Okuhara, the 2017 World Champion, won 42 rallies in the match to 23 by the Chinese. She won 6 consecutive points to 4 by He Bing Jiao. Okuhara now leads He Bing Jiao 8-1 Head to Head.
