Patna : Top seed & 2018 Asian Games gold medallist Tai Tzu Ying, 27, Chinese Taipei, reached the women’s singles final in Badminton at Tokyo Olympics on July 31, 2021, defeating Rio Olympics silver medallist P V Sindhu, 26, India, in straight games in semi-final. World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying beat Sindhu 21-18, 21-12 in semi-finalĀ on July 31, 2021. Tai Tzu now leads Sindhu 14-5 Head to Head.
Sixth seed Sindhu, the 2019 World Champion, was leading till half-way through in the first game but thereafter Tai Tzu rallied back strongly and the game remained levelled till 18-18. Tai Tzu surged ahead from here and won the first game at 21-18. Tai Tzu dominated Sindhu in the second game and comfortably won it 21-12. Sindhu has won 15 career titles.
