Tai Tzu beats Saina to reach SFs of All England Badminton Championships 2019

Patna : World No 9 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Saina Nehwal, 28, India, lost to her nemesis and World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Chinese Taipei, once again in the quarter-finals of Yonex All England Badminton Championships 2019 at Arena Birmingham, England, on March 8, 2019.

Top seed Tai Tzu beat Saina, the 8th seed, 21-15, 21-19 in 37 minutes in the quarter-finals to storm into the semi-finals of the tournamnent. Tai Tzu won 42 rallies in the match to 34 by Saina. She also won 7 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Saina, a finalist in 2015. Tai Tzu now leads Saina 15-5 head to head.

World No Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, the 4th seed, also reached the SFs edging past World No 7 and 6th seed HE Bingjiao, 21, China, 21-16, 19-21, 21-12 in 65 minutes in the quarter-finals. Yamaguchi won 61 rallies in the match to 49 by Bingjiao. She won 7 consecutive points to 4 by Bingjiao. Yamaguchi leads Bingjiao 8-2 head to head.
