Patna : Top seed and 2018 champion Simona Halep, 29, Romania, crashed out of the French Open, a Grand Slam tennis tournament played at outdoor clay court at Roland Garros, Paris, France, losing in straight sets to Iga Swiatek, 19, Poland, in women’s singles fourth round Swiatek will face qualifier Martina Trevisan, 26, Italy, in QFs on October 6, 2020.

Swiatek stunned Simona, winner of two Grand Slam singles titles, 6-1, 6-2 winning 4 break points  besides winning 5 games in a row in the match on October 4, 2020. Swiatek won 66 points in the match to 43 by Simona, who committed two double faults. Simona praised World No 29 Swiatek’s brilliant play.

Martina Trevisan beat 5th seed Kiki Bertens, 28, Netherlands, 6-4, 6-4 in 4th round on October 4, 2020. Trevisan won 6 break points to 4 by Bertens. The Italian won 4 games in a row to 3 by the Dutch. Trevisan won 73 points to 60 by the Dutch. Bertens committed 5 double faults to 2 by the Italian.

Third seed Elina Svitolina, 26,Ukraine, beat Caroline Garcia, 26, France, 6-1, 6-3 in 4th round to advance to QFs. Svitolina won 6 break points to 2 by Caroline Garcia. She won 59 points in the match to 35 Caroline. Svitolina won 5 games in a row in the match. Svitolina will face qualifier Nadia Podoroska, 23, Argentina, in QFs on October 6, 2020.
