Patna: Sweden defeated Mexico 3-0 in a Group F match of  FIFA World Cup 2018 at Ekaterinburg Arena, Russia, on June 27, 2018. Defender Ludwig Augustinsson scored the first goal for Sweden in the 5oth minute while Defender and Captain Andreas Granqvist scored the second in 62nd minute through penalty. Mexico Defender Edson Alvarez scored  an ‘own goal’  in the 74th minute give Sweden 3-0 lead.

Incidenally, both Sweden and Mexico have qualified for the knock out stage having finished at 6 points each. Mexico have entered the Round of 16 in each of their last 8 appearance in the World Cup. Sweden were runners-up in 1958 and had finished third in 1994. Mexico had reached quarter-finals in 1986.
