Patna : Sixth seed Supinada Katethong, 24, Thailand, stunned top seed & twice Olympic medallist P V Sindhu, 26, India, in three-games in semi-final on January 15, 2022, to reach women’s singles final of Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2022, an HSBC BWF World Tour 500 event being held at K D Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi. Supinada will face 2nd seed Busanan Ongbamrungphan, 25, Thailand, in final on January 16, 2022.

World No 33 Supinada beat 2019 World Champion P V Sindhu, India, 21-14, 13-21, 21-10 in 59 minutes in semi-final on January 15, 2022. Supinada won 56 points during the match to 45 points by Sindhu. The Thai won 7 consecutive points during the match to 6 by World No 7 Sindhu, who has won 15 career titles.
