Ara : Activists of the different students unions went on  rampage and damaged properties of Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, on October 8, 2018, to protest against indifferent attitude of the university administration towards students on fast unto death. The RJD activists burnt the effigy of Vice-Chancellor, VKSU, Nand Kishor Sah on the university campus while the activists of the Jan Adhhikar Party (JAP) staged demonstration before his office  half-naked.

CPI (ML) LA from Tarari Sudama Prasad, Radha Charan Sah alias Sethi Ji, MLC, and other leaders visited the dharana site and supported the students and criticized the VKSU administration for their indifferent attitude towards their just demands.

The fast unto death agitation by the activists of the All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Chhatra RJD to press  their four point demands continued for the sixth consecutive day on October 8, 2018, and condition of at least five students on fast has deteriorated. Their main demands include withdrawal of hiked fees for the BEd course, announcement of dates of examinations for BEd Part I and Part II sessions 2017-2019 and 2016-2018 respectively.

The students raised slogans against the VKSU administration for its anti-student approach. Pappu Kumar, a student leader, said that the VKSU administration is working against the interest of students and never bothers to solve their problems. He said they would be forced to launch a more aggressive agitation if the VKSU administration did not concede their demands at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the CPI(ML) has given call for ‘Chhakka Jam’ on October 9, 2018, in support of the students and against the VKSU administration.
