Ara: Hundreds of students of BA Part I continued their agitation for the second consecutive day on Monday at local S B College, a constituent unit of Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, , in protest against non-issuance of admit cards to them. BA part I examination started from Monday at 40 centres in old Shahabad district and about 1,000 students were not allowed to appear at the examination.
The VKSU had not issued registration numbers to about 1,000 students who were admitted in B A Part I exceeding allotted quota hence not allowed to fill up their examination forms. Since then these students were putting pressure on the university administration to allow them to appear at the examination but the university administration remained firm on its stand.
The agitating students said that they were admitted to B A Part I by college administration and they had already filled up forms for registration numbers but they were not issued admit cards. They said that they were admitted within allotted quota but the college administration treated their admission as wrong and did not issue admit cards even as they were issued their registration numbers from the VKSU. They were not allowed to appear at the examination.
Vice-Chancellor (VC), VKSU, Leela Chand Sah said that the students who were admitted exceeding allotted quota in colleges were not issued registration numbers and admit cards and this all happened due to the fault of college administration concerned. S B Colleges administration said that admission of agitating students were illegal and so they were not issued admit cards.
On the other hand, Narendra Kumar Palit, Coordinator, VKSU examination department, has stopped Principals of colleges from issuing adhoc admit cards and also directed all the Centre Superintendents not to allow anyone to appear at the examination without admit cards.
Meanwhile, some of the agitating students forcibly entered the examination halls at H D Jain College centre on Monday and tore the answer- sheets of some examinees. The college administration called in police and the police chased them away and ensured peaceful examination.
