Patna: Agitated over largescale bungling at the ongoing Inter level clerical grade examinations being conducted by Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), a large number of students on February 6 entred its office near Bihar Veterinary College and assaulted some of the employees including BSSC secretary Parmeshwar Ram. Timely intervention by security guards saved Ram and he was escorted inside the office by them.

On January 5, question and answer- sheets of the second phase of BSSC examinations had gone viral and some of the candidates managed to procure them from open market. The students had demanded immediate cancellation of the examination the same day. However, BSSC secretary on February 5 said that the examinations would not be cancelled at any cost. Agitated over secretary’s statement, the students gathered at BSSC office and manhandled the employees there.

On getting information, local police reached the spot and chased away the agitating youth. A student was  detained by the police in this connection. The students said that the BSSC had been playing with their future. They alleged that huge amount was being paid by several candidates for getting government  jobs in Bihar.

Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar during Jan Samvaad said that he has ordered a probe into the entire episode. He talked to chief secretary and DGP and directed them to hold an impartial probe into it. State education minister Ashok Choudhary said though this incident is not associated with his department, he described it as serious. Nobody  would be allowed to play with the future of the youth, he said adding that truth would come to the fore after probe and stern action would be taken against those involved in the racket.

It may be mentioned here that several persons had been arrested from different districts of the state adopting unfair means to help the candidates. Several arrests were made in Warsaliganj in Nawada district and Kankerbagh, Patna, and police had seized several sophisticated electronic devices used for helping the candidats during the examinations.  Patna Police had arrested several persons involved in this racket and seized several electronic devices used to help the candidates at BSSC examination recently too.
