Patna : World No 83 in WTA rankings and winner of US Open women’s singles title in 2011 Samantha Stosur, 34, Australia, upset World No 16 Madison Keys, 24, USA, in three-sets in the 2nd round of Miami Open at Florida, USA, on March 22, 2019. Stosur beat Keys 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to enter the 3rd round of the tournament.

Keys though fired 16 Aces in the match to 4 by Stosur. Keys, a US Open finalist in 2017, committed 6 double faults in the match to 4 by Stosur. Stosur broke Keys’ service 7 times while the latter broke her service 6 times. Both the players won 6 games each in a row. Stosur won 54 points to 49 by Keys. Stosur had also reached final of French Open in 2010.

World No 2 Petra Kvitova, 28, Czech Republic, World No 8 Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, World No 11 Ashleigh Barty, 22, Australia,  and World No 15 Julia Georges, 30, Germany, have also entered the 3rd round of the tournament. Stosur will face Barty in the 3rd round.
