Patna : A `Cheetah’ unit STF comprising 30 members seized two regular Rifles, one Musket ( light gun with long barrel fired from the shoulder) and a countrymade pistol after an hour long fierce encounter with members of dreaded Ramjanam Yadav gang numbering ten in Pandarak Mela diara ( riverine belt) under Pandarak police station in Patna district on September 16, 2017, early morning. The STF personnel fired 68 rounds while the criminals fired more than 70 rounds.
The encounter started at 4 am and lasted till 5 am. The Ramjanam Yadav gang members were the first to fire on the STF personnel but later they escaped towards Bachhwara side in Begusarai district finding the cops well equipped with sophisticated arms. They escpaed taking advantage of the long grasses in diara belt leaving behind some of their arms. The STF, however, could not arrest any of the criminals.
Confirming the incident, STF SP Nilesh Kumar said that Ramjanam Yadav gang has unlashed terror in Pandarak riverine belt by forcibly harvesting the crops of farmers. The STF SP said that the gang is also involved in collection of `Rangdari’ ( extortion amount) from the people under Barh Sub-division area of Patna district and Bachhwara area in Begusarai. SP Nilesh Kumar said that Ramjanam Yadav was involved in several criminal cases and had come out of jail recently on bail
