Saharsa: The STF arrested five members of Ramanand Yadav alias Pehalman gang from village Belahi in Saharsa district after an  encounter with the criminals in the wee hours on November 18. Police also seized several arms including a looted police rifle and ammunition from the possession of the criminals. The STF conducted raid at village Belahi under Chiraiya police outpost following  directive of IG (Operations).

Although Ramanand Yadav managed to escape, the STF described its operation as a major success. About 50 STF jawans led by  Inspector Arjun Lall conducted raid at the village at 3 am following reports that criminals had gathered there. The criminals fired around 35 rounds on STF jawans, who retaliated by firing 22 rounds at them.

The five arrested criminals were identified as Raushan Kumar Pehalwan, Chandan Yadav, Narain Sah, Kishore Sah and Dilip Yadav. Arms seized after the encounter included a police rifle, a made in USA semi-rifle ( banned), a pistol, a countrymade revolver, 24 live cartridges of AK 47 besides 102 live cartridges and Rs 8,000 cash.
