Ara : Four armed miscreants shot at and injured the State Vice-president, Janata Dal (United), Vishwanath Singh, at his residence near Glass Factory in Gausganj locality under Ara Town police station in Bhojpur district around 9 pm on April 27, 2019. He was rushed to a private clinic at Babu Bazaar where his condition is stated to be critical tough the doctor took out the bullet from his body.
SDO, Ara, Arun Prakash, SDPO, Pankaj Kumar, ASP (Operation) Nitin Kumar along with police force rushed to the private clinic after the incident. An FIR has been lodged with police under Ara Town police station but no arrest has so far been made in this connection but police remain clueless. The reason behind the firing is still to be ascertained. The injured Vishwanath Singh said that he knew two of the miscreants.
ASP (Operation) Nitin Kumar said that Vishwanath Singh is a resident of Lauhar-Farana village under Barhara police station in Bhojpur district but he lived at a house in Gausganj locality near a Glass Factory under Ara Town police station. Around 9pm, four armed miscreants came and called him to come out of his house. As he came out of the house, the miscreants fired on him and his son. Two bullets hit Vishwanath Singh in his stomach after which he fell on the ground. His son Mahesh Kumar had a narrow escape. Later, the miscreants escaped from the scene. The family members and locals rushed Vishwanath Singh to a private clinic at Babu Bazaar.
Vishwanath Singh said that he was getting ready to attend a marriage ceremony when the miscreants called on the excuse to take a patient to the hospital and when he came out of the house, they fired on him.
