Bagaha : SSB jawans of 21st Battalion, Bagaha, deployed at Gandak barrage under Valmikinagar police station in West Champaran district on August 6, 2017, arrested two smugglers with a Buddha statue, a TVS motorbike and two mobile phones near Jatashankar temple at 8 am.

The Buddha statue appears to have been made of Ashtadhatu  or some precious metal. But, its left thigh portion is missing. It weighs about 9.39 kg. The arrested smugglers were identified as Uttam Sao, 40, son of Mohan Sao of village Bhairognj under the same police station and Waqil Mian, 50, son of  Alihasan of village Kumbhiya-Bisunpurwa under Bagaha town police station in West Champaran district.Nagamani Deputy Commandant, SSB, 21st Battalion, Nagmani,  said that Assistant Commandant, SSB, Devendra Upadhyay, was leading the team that arrested the two smugglers.. the leader of the SSB Jawans was  assistant commandant Devendar Upadhyay.
