Patna : Kidambi Srikanth, 26, India, the 6th seed, Sameer Verma, India, and Kanta Tsuneyama, Japan, entered the 2nd round of Gwangju Korea Masters, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event, at Gwangju Women;s University Stadium, Gwangju Metropolitan Metropolitan City, South Korea, on November 20, 2019.

Srikanth beat World No 37 Wong Wing Ki Vincent, 29, Hong Kong, 21-18, 21-17 in 37 minutes in first round. Srikanth won 42 rallies in the match to 35 by Vincent. He won 8 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Vincent. Srikanth now leads Vincent 11-3 Head to Head.

Sameer Verma entered the 2nd round after his 1st round opponent and World No 69 Kazumasa Sakai, 29, Japan, retired due to injury in the first game trailing 3-11.

Sourabh Verma, elder brother of Sameer Verma, lost to World No 112 Kim Dong Hun, 26, South Korea, in first round. Hun beat Sourabh in three games 13-21, 21-12, 21-13 in 52 minutes. Hun won 55 rallies in the match to 46 by Sourabh. He won 10 consecutive points in the match to 7 by the Indian. It was first meeting between the two players.

Kanta Tsuneyama beat World No 70 Lu Chia Hung, Chinese Taipei, 21-11, 21-10 in 28 minutes in first round. Tsuneyama won 42 rallies in the match to 21 by Hung. He also won 9 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Hung.

World No 13 Kantaphon Wangcharoen, 21, Thailand, beat World No 23 Lee Cheuk Yiu, Hong Kong, 21-16, 21-15 in 46 minutes to enter the 2nd round. Wangcharoen won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Lee. He won 5 consecutive points to 3 by Lee. Lee had won the Hong Kong Open singles title on November 17, 2019.
