Patna : World No 15 Kidambi Srikanth, 28, India, and World No 19 Lakshya Sen, 20, India, entered the 3rd round of TotalEnergies BWF World Championships 2021 at Huelva, Spain, on December 14, 2021.
Lakshya Sen upset 15th seed Kenta Nishimoto, 27, Japan, in a three-game thriller 22-20, 15-21, 21-18 in 2nd round in 82 minutes in 2nd round on December 14, 2021. Sen won 58 rallies during the match to 59 by World No 17 Nishimoto. Sen won 4 consecutive points during the match to 5 by the Japanese.It was first meeting between the two players. Sen had got walkover in first round.
Srikanth, the 12th seed, beat World No 60 Li Shi Feng, 21, China, in a close three-game contest 15-21, 21-18, 21-17 in 69 minutes in 2nd round rallying back from one game down. Srikanth won 57 rallies in the match to 56 by Feng. Srikanth won 10 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Feng. It was first meeting between the two players.
