Patna : World No 55 Parupalli Kashyap, 32, and World No 7 Kidambi Srikanth, 26, both India, reached the semi-finals of Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2019, an HSBC Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 level tournament, at K D Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi, India, on March 29, 2019.

Kashyap beat World No 32 Wang Tzu Wei, 24, Taiwan, in straight games 21-16, 21-11 in 38 minutes in the quarter-finals on March 29, 2019. Kashyap won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Wang. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Wang. Kashyap now leads Wang 2-0 head to head. Wang had defeated World No 44 Subhankar Dey, 25, India, in the second round.

Srikanth, the 3rd seed, beat World No 20 B Sai Praneeth, 26, India, in a three-game thriller 21-23, 21-11, 21-19 in the quarter-finals in 62 minutes. Srikanth lost the first game but rallied back strongly to win the next two games to advanced to the SFs of the tournament. Srikanth won 63 rallies in the match to 53 by Praneeth. He won 7 consecutive points in the match to 6 by Praneeth. Praneeth, however, still leads Srikanth 5-3 head to head. Praneeth had defeated World No 15 Sameer Verma, India, in the 2nd round.

World No 30 Huang Yuxiang, 26, China, defeated World No 19 Khosit Phetpradab, Thailand, 21-16, 21-15 in 48 minutes in the quarter-finals to advanced to the semi-finals of the event.
