Patna : World No 8 Kidambi Srikanth, 26, India, reached the quarter-finals of Yonex All England Badminton Championships 2019 beating reigning Asian Games men’s singles gold medallist and World No 9 Jonatan Christie, 21, Indonesia, in three-games in the second round on March 7, 2019, night.

Srikanth beat Jonatan Christie also known as ‘Jojo’ 21-17, 11-21, 21-12 in 58 minutes in the second round. Srikanth won the first game comfortably. Jonatan, however, rallied back strongly in the second game and won it 21-11. But, Srikanth completely dominated the third game and won it 21-12 maintaining his lead throughout the game. The two players are now locked 3-3 head to head. Srikanth won 53 rallies in the match to 50 by Jonatan. Srikanth won 5 consecutive points compared to 6  by Jonatan.

But, World No 26 B Sai Praneeth, 26, India, lost to World No 15 NG Ka Long Angus, 24, Hong Kong, 12-21, 17-21 in 35 minutes in the 2nd round. Angus won 42 rallies to 29 by Praneeth. Angus won 8 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Praneeth. Angus leads Praneeth 3-2 head to head.
