Patna : Sri Lanka crushed South Africa (SA) by 8 wickets on day 3 in the second test at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on February 23, 2019, with Kusal Mendis scoring an unbeaten 84 in 110 balls 13 fours and Oshada Fernando scoring an unbeaten 75 in 106 balls with 10 four and 2 sixes. Set a target of 197, Sri Lanka scored 197/2 in 45.4 overs.

Sri Lanka won the two-match test series 2-0 becoming the first team from Asia to win a series in South Africa. Kusal Mendis was named Player of the Match while Kusal Perera was named Player of the series.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis said that fall of 31 wickets in the first two days of the 2nd test was mind boggling. He described the defeat in the 2nd test as very disappointing. We were very poor with the bat in the series, he said.

South Africa had scored 222 in their first innings and 128 in the second. Sri Lanka scored 154 in their first innings and 197/2 in the second.
