Patna : Chasing a target of  268, Sri Lanka (SL) were 76/0 in 32 overs at tea on Day 4 in their second innings of 1st Test against New Zealand (NZ) with openers Dimuth Karunaratne (captain) and Lahiru Thirimanne unbeaten on 52 and 23 runs respectively under pressure. It was a dogged innings showing great resolve from both the SL batsmen. They have added 76 runs in 192 balls for the first wicket so far.

This is Karunaratne’s 23rd test fifty scored in 115 balls with only 2 fours. Thirimmane has scored 23 in 77 balls with 2 fours.  New Zealand spinners Mitchell Santner and  William Somerville bowled impressive spells but without success. SL now need 192 runs to win the 1st test with all 10 wickets in hand.
