Patna : Set a target of 660 runs, Sri Lanka were 231/6 in 104 overs in their second innings at stumps on day 4 of 2nd test against New Zealand at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand, with Dilruwan Perera batting on 22 and Suranga Lakmal on 16. New Zealand need to score another 429 runs on the fifth day to win the test with only 4 wickets in hand.
Captain Dinesh Chandimal scored 56 while Kusal Mendis scored 67. Angelo Mathews retired hurt on 22. Roshan Silva made 18 while wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella scored 19. Openers Danushka Gunathilaka and Dimuth Karunaratne scored 4 and zero respectively. For New Zealand, Neil Wagner took 3/47 while Tim Southee took 2/61. Trent Boult has taken one wicket.
Sri Lanka had won the toss but opted to bowl. Batting first, New Zealand were all out for 178 runs in their first innings. Sri Lanka were all out for 104 in their first innings. New Zealand declared their second innings at 585/4 with opener Tom Latham scoring 176 and Henry Nicholls scoring an unbeaten 162. Colin de Grandhomme remained unbeaten on 71.
