SRH beat RR by 5 wickets in 8th match of IPL-12

Patna : Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 5 wickets in the 8th match of IPL-12 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on March 29, 2019, late night, with openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow scoring 69 and 45 runs respectively and Vijay Shankar scoring 35. Yusuf Pathan and spinner Rashid Khan remained unbeaten on 16 and 15 runs respectively. Chasing a target of 199 runs, SRH 201/5 in 19 overs.

SRH Captain Kane Williamson fell to fast bowler Jaidev Unadkat for 14 while Manish Pandey fell to spinner Shreyas Gopal for 1. For RR, Shreyas Gopal took 3/27 in 4 overs while Ben Stokes took 1/40 in 3 overs. Unadkat took 1/26 in 3 overs.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, RR scored a 198/2 in 20 overs with Sanju Samson scoring an unbeaten 102 in 55 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes and captain and opener Ajinkya Rahane scoring 70 in 49 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Opener Jos Buttler (wk) fell to spinner Rashid Khan for 5. But, this total proved inadequate as SRH scored 201/5 in 19 overs only.
