Patna : Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) stunned Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeating them by 4 runs in the 52nd match of IPL at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abdu Dhabi, UAE, on October 6, 2021, late night. RCB had won the toss and opted to bowl. RCB have now 16 points from 13 games while SRH have 6 points from equal number of games. SRH captain Kane Williamson was named Player Of The Match.

RCB required 13 runs in the last over with A B de Villiers on the crease but could score only 8 runs in the over even as the South African hit a six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the 4th ball of the over. Chasing a target of 142 runs, RCB scored 137/6 in 20 overs. A B de Villiers remained unbeaten on 19 in 13 balls hitting a four and a six.

Chasing the target, RCB had a terrible start losing their first wicket that of captain Virat Kohli (opener) with only 6 runs on board. Kohli fell to Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for 5. Daniel Christian fell to fast medium bowler Siddharth Kaul for 1 and it was 18/2. Srikar Bharat (wk) fell to 19 year fast bowler from Kashmir Umran Malik for 12 making it 38/3.

Glenn Maxwell and opener Devdutt Padikkal steadied the inning adding 54 runs for the 4th wicket. Maxwell, however, was run out for 40 in 25 balls hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes both off spinner Rashid Khan and it was 92/4. Padikkal fell to Rashid Khan for 41 in 52 balls with 4 fours and it was 109/5. Shahbaz Ahmed fell to all-rounder Jason Holder for 14 runs with 2 fours and it was 128/6.

For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jason Holder, Siddharth Kaul, Umran Malik, and Rashid Khan, took one wicket each while Maxwell was run out.

Batting first, SRH had scored 141/7 in 20 overs with opener Jason Roy scoring 44 and captain Kane Williamson scoring 31 runs.
