Patna : Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 5 wickets in the 16th match of IPL-12 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, on April 4, 2019, with opener Jonny Bairstow scoring 48 in 28 balls hitting 9 fours and a six. This was SRH’s 3rd victory in four matches in IPL-12. Chasing a target of 130, SRH scored 131/5 in 18.3 overs. Bairstow was named Player of the Match. SRH had won the toss but opted to bowl.
Batting first, DC had scored 129/8 in 20 overs with captain Shreyas Iyer scoring 43 in 41 balls hitting 3 fours and a six while spinner Axar patel scored an unbeaten 23 in 13 balls hitting 1 four and 2 sixes. Chris Morris scored 17. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan scored 11 and 12 runs respectively while Rishabh Pant (wk) scored 5. Rahul Tewatia and Colin Ingram also scored 5 each.
For SRH, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul, and Mohad Nabi took two wickets each while Sandeep Sharma and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
Chasing the target, SRH made a solid start with its openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow added 64 runs for the first wicket. Bairstow was the first to go making it 64/1. Barirstow fell to Rahul Tewatia for 48. Warner fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for 10 making it 68/2. Manish Pandey fell to Ishant Sharma for 10 making it 95/3. Vijay Shankar fell to Axar Patel for 16 making it 101/4. Deepak Hooda was next to go at 111. Mohammad Nabi remained unbeaten on 17 in 9 balls hitting 2 fours and a six.
For some strange reasons, SRH captain Bhuvaneshwar Kumar gave just one over to Ishant Sharma.
