Spain Vs Portugal World Cup match ends in 3-3 draw

Patna :  The much hyped Spain vs Portugal Group B match in FIFA World Cup 2018 ended in a 3-3 draw on late June 15, 2018, night, at Fisht Stadium, Sochi, Russia, with Portugal Captain Cristiano Ronaldo, 33,  scoring a brilliant hat-trick.

Ronaldo, who is making his fourth appearance in the World Cup finals, scored his third goal with a free kick to draw the match, which turned out to be a classic. Ronaldo has scored has scored goals in all the four World Cup finals he has played. Ronaldo scored the first goal in the 4th minute to give Portugal 1-0 lead and his third goal in 88th minute to make it 3-3. The match started at 11.30 pm on June 15.

Spain, the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner, were leading with three minutes to go. Spain are making their 15th appearance in the World Cup. But, they have won their opening match in a World Cup just twice. Spain defender Nacho Fernandez scored goal on his World Cup debut giving his country 3-2 lead over Portugal in the 58th minute.

Spain’s striker Diego de Silva Costa, 29, had scored goal in 55th minute to make 2-2. At half-time Portugal was leading 2-1 thanks to Ronaldo’s goal in 44th minute. Costa had also scored goal in the 24th minute to  bring  the score 1-1. A Brazilian, Costa was granted Spanish citizenship in September 2013. He had played in FIFAWorld Cup 2014 too.
